Ashland history walking tour

Founding of Ashland & the Plaza -- History tour --- Meet at Lithia Park entrance at south end of Plaza

Description: Learn about the founding of Ashland and early Ashland history: people, buildings, stories of triumph and tragedy, and more. Primarily on the Ashland Plaza (around which the early town developed), the walk will also go into Lithia Park and along Winburn Way. Many historic photos included. See Ashland as it was more than 100 years ago, as you walk through today's Ashland.
Distance of walk: approximately 1 mile. Flat route, mostly paved walking surface with some uneven pavement, a few minutes of the walk are on a dirt path.
Route: Plaza, Lithia Park, Winburn Way, Alice Peil Walkway, Calle Guanajuato, back to Plaza.
Meeting spot: Meet at Lithia Park entrance sign at south end of Plaza.
Note: Children 10 years and younger are free.

Plaza to Library -- History+Art tour --- Meet at flag pole on north side of Plaza

A guided history and art walking tour through downtown Ashland. You will learn about historic buildings (some still here and some gone), hear stories of early Ashland people, and see beautiful public art. Many historic photos.
Length of walk: approximately 1 mile. Flat, paved walking surface.
Route: North end of Plaza, East Main Street, Ashland Carnegie Library, Third Street, return to Plaza along Lithia Way. Meeting spot: Meet at the flag pole on north side of Plaza.

Route: Fourth Street to Oak Street to the Plaza to the Elizabethan Theatre.

Haunted SOU tour: Ghosts, history and humor at Southern Oregon University - Meet near entrance to Plunkett Center, corner of Siskiyou Blvd and Mountain Ave.

This was a very enjoyable, informative, and entertaining walk through part of Lithia Park and around to the campus of OSF. The walking is not difficult. Peter was well informed and had some great stories to illustrate key moments in the history of Ashland and Lithia Park.

I really enjoyed the stories and historical information on the Haunted Ashland Walk. Thank you for taking us on a tour around Ashland. I learned more then I've ever known.
I found it disheartening that you didn't believe in the ghost stories you told. For me that lost some of the magic in what you shared. I came to be embraced in the spiritual ambience of the hauntings and found you lack of enthusiasm left me wanting more.
A bit of advice: work on your storytelling skills.
